Perplexity Expands AI Computer Platform to Enterprise, Personal, and Developer Markets
Perplexity has announced a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence computer platform, introducing new enterprise capabilities, a personal computing solution, and developer tools designed to integrate AI-driven assistance across multiple workflow environments.
The company unveiled Personal Computer, a dedicated system running on Mac mini hardware that operates continuously and connects users’ local applications with Perplexity’s secure servers. The system functions as a digital proxy, allowing users to orchestrate tools, tasks, and files from any device and location.
“Personal Computer works in a secure environment with clear safeguards,” the company stated. “Sensitive actions require approval, and every session includes a full audit trail. A kill switch gives users immediate control.”
The personal computing solution is currently available to an initial cohort of users, with a waitlist now open for additional participants.
For business customers, Perplexity introduced Computer for Enterprise, which connects to existing company infrastructure through application connectors capable of querying platforms including Snowflake, Salesforce, and HubSpot, among hundreds of other services.
The enterprise offering allows teams to customize workflows with specialized skills and integrates directly into communication platforms. In Slack environments, users can collaborate with the system through direct messages or shared channels for tasks ranging from coding assistance to dashboard creation and financial modeling.
According to internal company data from a study of over 16,000 queries, Perplexity Computer achieved labor cost savings of $1.6 million and completed the equivalent of 3.25 years of work within a four-week period. These measurements were compared against institutional benchmarks from various management consulting organizations.
The enterprise platform includes security features such as SOC 2 Type II certification, SAML single sign-on, audit logging, and secure sandbox environments for each query.
Perplexity also launched Comet Enterprise, an AI-native browser designed for organizational use. The browser provides administrators with controls over where and how the assistant operates, including permission settings that can apply across the entire browser or restrict functionality to specific domains. Through a partnership with CrowdStrike, Comet Enterprise customers receive additional browser-level protections including extension visibility, risk assessments, and measures to prevent sensitive information exposure.
The company further expanded its developer offerings by making four application programming interfaces available: Search, Agent, Embeddings, and Sandbox. These building blocks power the Computer system and are now accessible to developers seeking to incorporate AI capabilities into their products.
“Search gives developers a grounded way to retrieve information,” Perplexity explained. “Agent makes it possible to delegate multi-step tasks. Sandbox provides a controlled environment for execution. Embeddings support retrieval and ranking systems.”
Premium Sources functionality now enables Computer to access data from professional providers including Statista, CB Insights, and PitchBook. These subscription-based sources, commonly used for market research and investment analysis, are integrated into the research workflow and cited in queries.
For financial applications, Perplexity upgraded its Finance platform with access to over 40 live finance tools pulling directly from sources including SEC filings, FactSet, S&P Global, Coinbase, and LSEG. Users can connect brokerage accounts through Plaid for portfolio analytics and risk insights, with the ability to access prediction market data from Polymarket.
The comprehensive launch extends AI computer capabilities across personal workflows, enterprise software, developer platforms, and financial analysis tools, with the company positioning the system as a unified solution for understanding goals, gathering context, selecting appropriate tools, and advancing work across domains.
