SmartSens SC570XS Specs: 50MP 1.0µm Ultra-HDR Sensor with Lofic HDR 3.0
SmartSens (688213), a Chinese CMOS image sensor maker, has announced the SC570XS, a 50-megapixel 1.0µm pixel ultra-high dynamic range image sensor for mid-to-high-end smartphones and consumer imaging applications. Built on the SmartClarity-XL Pro platform with a 22nm stacked process, the sensor integrates multiple patented technologies focused on ultra-high dynamic range, low noise and low power.
- SC570XS is a 50MP, 1.0µm pixel, 1/1.56-inch CMOS image sensor
- It uses a 22nm stacked process with Lofic HDR 3.0, SFCPixel-2 and AllPix ADAF technologies
- Dynamic range reaches up to 111dB, with about 415mW power in 4K Lofic HDR 3.0 video mode
- The sensor is in mass production and accepting samples, targeting phones, handheld imaging and wearables
Core Specs: 1.0µm Pixels and 111dB Dynamic Range
The SC570XS uses a 1/1.56-inch optical format with 1.0µm pixels and 50-megapixel resolution. With SmartSens’s new Lofic HDR 3.0 technology, dynamic range reaches up to 111dB (under 20-bit width with a 1024:1 HG-to-LOFIC frame ratio), capturing well-balanced high dynamic range images even in scenes with extreme contrast.
Lofic HDR 3.0 relies on three-frame fusion in a single exposure, delivering ultra-high dynamic range while suppressing motion artifacts, which suits smartphones, handheld imaging devices and wearables in motion-heavy shooting scenarios.
Low Noise and Fast Autofocus
The SC570XS adopts SmartSens’s patented SFCPixel-2 technology, boosting sensitivity while keeping read noise as low as 0.82 e-, improving image quality in dim conditions such as cloudy days, dusk and night.
For focusing, the sensor supports both 100% full-pixel (AllPix ADAF) and 6% sparse PDAF phase detection modes: full-pixel focusing delivers fast, stable focus in low light, while sparse PDAF kicks in under good light to balance accuracy and power consumption.
Power: About 415mW in 4K HDR Mode
Thanks to a new ultra-low-power design on the SmartClarity-XL Pro platform, the SC570XS consumes only about 415mW in 4K Lofic HDR 3.0 video mode, reducing heat during long recordings, extending continuous capture time and improving the usability of HDR 3.0. Combined with high dynamic range and high frame rates, the sensor handles everyday recording as well as professional-quality footage.
Positioning and Availability
Targeting mid-to-high-end smartphones, handheld imaging and wearables, the SC570XS is one of the few phone sensors reaching 111dB dynamic range at 1.0µm pixel size, reflecting how Chinese CMOS sensor makers are pushing into the premium mobile imaging segment. The company says the sensor is already in mass production and accepting samples.
