xAI Launches Grok Imagine Image 2.0: Precise Generation and Editing for Real Work
xAI has launched Imagine Image 2.0, the next generation of its image generation model, now available as the new Quality Mode on grok.com/imagine and in the Grok iOS and Android apps. The company says the model is built for images that can be used in real work, with tighter instruction following, designer-grade typography and layout planning, and tools for precise editing.

xAI says Image 2.0 follows instructions closely and plans typography and layout the way a designer would, so dense, multi-part visuals hold together and small text comes out sharp. The model also preserves what users put in across generations and edits.
Precise Editing Tools
The update adds several editing capabilities. The magic wand edits the region the user points at while leaving the rest untouched. Segmentation selects precise areas of an image to change. Background removal exports any subject with a transparent background, ready to drop into other work. Multi-reference editing accepts up to 5 input images in a single generation, removing the need for manual compositing.
Smart Resize and Templates
Smart resize lets users pick any aspect ratio and the model fills in the frame, from 1:2 tall banners to 16:9 widescreen. The release also introduces templates that package common workflows into ready-made starting points, covering photo editing, product shots, headshots, icons, game assets and more.
Performance Ranking
